Michel Giacometti, etnólogo, natural da ilha mediterrânea da Córsega (França), entre 1959  e 1990 recolheu, estudou e divulgou a música tradicional portuguesa. Com a chancela dos Arquivos Sonoros Portugueses, fundados por si em 1960, editou toda uma discografia fundamental para o conhecimento do nosso património musical.

Figura fundamental da nossa etnologia, a sua obra cinematográfica constitui hoje uma referência incontornável para conhecer o Portugal do Século XX  e reflectir sobre os percursos da nossa identidade nos dias de hoje.

Michel Giacometti, ethnologist, a native of the Mediterranean island of Corsica (France), between 1959 and 1990 has collected, studied and published the traditional Portuguese music. With the seal Arquivos Sonoros Portugueses, founded by himself in 1960, he edited an entire discography for fundamental knowledge of our musical heritage.

Key figure of our ethnology, his film work is today an undeniable reference to meet Portugal of the twentieth century and reflect on the paths of our identity today.
